Cellfie of the Day: Light micrograph of the antibiotic ciprofloxacin

This cross polarized light micrograph show ciprofloxacin, a member of the fluoroquinolone class of drugs. It works by killing certain types of bacteria and is used to treat some bacterial infections for example urinary tract infections. It is also used to treat and prevent anthrax, an infection caused by gram-positive bacteria Bacillus anthracis.
